Hand with an open pon — not closed for riichi.

Closed pinfu shape

All sequences closed — contrast with open meld sample.

Furiten — cannot ron

Tenpai but in furiten after discarding the winning tile.

Not furiten — safe ron

Same wait shape without furiten restriction.
