What is iipeikou?
Iipeikou (one set of identical sequences) awards one han when two identical sequences appear in the same suit and same numbers, in a closed hand. A second copy (ryanpeikou) is worth three han total.

Spotting iipeikou
Students should compare the two sequences tile-for-tile. Identical 234 man twice qualifies; mixed suits do not. Iipeikou stacks with pinfu or tanyao when shapes align.
